Hampyeong-gun Conducts Intensive Summer Disinfection to Prevent Mosquito Outbreaks in Advance
Preemptive Mosquito Adult Removal and Prevention Measures Underway
[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 30th that it will conduct intensive pest control disinfection to prevent the occurrence of mosquitoes, which are vectors of infectious diseases such as the Japanese encephalitis virus.
To this end, the county has organized pest control teams at the health center and nine eup/myeon offices from May to October, about six months, and will carry out pest control disinfection and larval control more than five times a week targeting major mosquito habitats such as village surroundings and rivers.
In addition, to promote eco-friendly pest control, 45 mosquito traps will be installed and operated in multi-use facilities and densely populated areas such as tourist sites.
Jung Myung-hee, director of the health center, said, “We will do our best to prevent the occurrence of infectious diseases and resolve inconveniences for residents through thorough pest control disinfection during the summer season,” and added, “Since complete mosquito eradication is difficult with disinfection alone, we ask all residents to participate in personal prevention by removing mosquito habitats around their homes.”
