Kim Chang-yeol's 'Water Drop' Soars 7 Times... K-Auction Records Total April Auction Sales of 12 Billion Won

Kim Chang-yeol's works continued their popularity in the art auction market. The small piece No. 2, "Water Droplet," depicting sparkling droplets on a leaf, started at 6 million KRW and was sold for 41 million KRW, about seven times higher. Among the 12 works by Kim Chang-yeol submitted, 11 were all sold after fierce competition, recording a total hammer price of 1.307 billion KRW.
Lee Ufan's "Dialogue (2014)" was auctioned at 660 million KRW and, after intense bidding, was sold to an online bidder for 740 million KRW. This is the first time the highest price at an auction was achieved through online live bidding. Of the 13 works by Lee Ufan auctioned, all except the 1980 work "From Point" were sold, achieving a total hammer price of 2.6 billion KRW.
Among Park Seo-bo's works, 3 out of 4 found new owners, and among Jung Sang-hwa's works, 5 out of 6 were sold. Yoon Hyung-geun's 3 works and Ha Chong-hyun's 4 works recorded a 100% hammer rate.
Park Soo-keun's "On the Street" was auctioned at 540 million KRW and sold for 600 million KRW, and "Three Women," drawn with pencil on paper, was sold for 26 million KRW after competition. Yoo Young-guk's "Work" was also sold for 270 million KRW after bidding.
In addition to works by figurative artists such as Jang Uk-jin, Lee Dae-won, Lee Wal-jong, and Kim Jong-hak, works by Lee Kang-so, Lee Bae, Kim Tae-ho, and Oh Se-yeol also sold well, reflecting a favorable trend in the art market.
In overseas art, works by Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, and David Hockney achieved good results. Of the 11 works by Kusama Yayoi submitted, 10 were sold, confirming steady popularity in the market.

In the antique art section, "Eohaedo·Sansudo" by Sorim Jo Seok-jin and Simjeon Ahn Jung-sik was auctioned at 20 million KRW and sold for 49 million KRW. "Baekdong Tu-gak Hwajomun Jamun Hyangro" and "Ink-colored Four-legged Table·Ink-colored Chest" were sold for 11.5 million KRW and 16.5 million KRW respectively. The first edition of Baek Seok's "Deer," limited to 100 copies, started at 55 million KRW and was sold for 110 million KRW, becoming the highest price in the antique art section.
