Seongbuk-gu Provides 10 Million Won Each to 8 Village Bus Transport Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will provide damage support funds to transportation companies experiencing financial difficulties due to a decrease in passengers and transportation revenue caused by the spread of the COVID-19 infectious disease.
Since early last year, the ongoing COVID-19 situation has led to a decrease in passengers and transportation revenue, increasing the deficit scale of most village bus companies in Seoul. This has resulted in adjustments to the number of operations due to vehicle reductions, causing growing inconvenience to residents' transportation.
Accordingly, the district plans to spare no effort in supporting the entire transportation industry to overcome the crisis and ensure that public transportation services in the local community are not disrupted, through damage support funds for transportation companies in addition to the currently scheduled support for transportation workers.
The total amount of damage support funds is 80 million KRW, fully funded by the district, with 10 million KRW provided to each of the eight village bus transportation companies in the area.
The damage support funds can be applied for during the three days from April 28 to 30. Applications can be submitted by visiting the Seongbuk-gu Office Traffic Administration Division for each village bus company or online via e-mail. The payment is scheduled for early May.
