Jeongeup-si Selected as an Excellent Municipality for Vaccination by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 29th that it has been recognized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as an excellent local government for safe and rapid vaccination.
Since the beginning of the year, the city has acted swiftly to ensure safe vaccination by applying for ultra-low temperature freezers and preparing a vaccination center.
In addition, employees from the public health center, city hall, and community centers mobilized all administrative capabilities by contacting vaccination targets individually to encourage vaccination and obtain consent.
To ensure safe and smooth vaccination, the city checked preparedness by conducting mock drills with related agencies such as the fire station, police station, and military units.
In this process, the city received high evaluations from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as an excellent local government for safe and rapid vaccination through various ideas and experiments.
The city has been operating the COVID-19 vaccination center at Jeongeup Gymnasium since the 1st of this month.
As of this day, 10,438 people have received the first dose, and 1,888 people have received the second dose.
This corresponds to 80.7% for the first dose and 14.6% for the second dose based on 12,930 vaccination targets.
Elderly people selected as vaccination targets visit the vaccination center by walking, using private cars or public transportation, or accompanied by family or relatives in the dong (neighborhood) areas.
In eup, myeon, and dong areas with inconvenient transportation, Jeongeup City supports chartered buses to assist the elderly in safely visiting and returning home, with eup, myeon, dong heads and general affairs team leaders personally responsible for transportation.
The city has separately prepared guardian seats within the vaccination center to promote the mental and physical stability of the elderly, and installed large screens in the post-vaccination waiting area to provide information on adverse reactions.
Safety of the elderly is also monitored through wearing identification necklaces for eup, myeon, dong, use of stopwatches, and seat separation by observation time.
In particular, vaccination rates are increased by encouraging no-shows after reservation through time-based phone guidance.
