The White House announced that President Biden will meet with the leadership of both parties for the first time since taking office on May 12.
The White House explained that while President Biden had previously invited Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the White House, this is the first time he has invited House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. It added that President Biden will discuss policy areas where common ground can be found with the lawmakers.
