Police Launch Investigation into 'Kim Il-sung Memoirs' Complaint... Probing Publication Circumstances
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The police have launched a full-scale investigation into the complaint regarding the publication of North Korean leader Kim Il-sung's memoir "With the Century."
According to the police on the 26th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency received the complaint related to this book on the 22nd and is reportedly investigating the basic facts such as the publication process.
Minjok Sarangbang Publishing House released the eight-volume set of "With the Century," authored by Kim Il-sung, on the 1st of this month. However, controversy arose over factual distortion and legal violations as it was reported to be a direct reproduction of the original text published by the North Korean Workers' Party Publishing House.
In this regard, civic groups including the Rule of Law and Liberal Democracy Solidarity (NPK) filed a provisional injunction request with the Seoul Western District Court on the 23rd, seeking to ban the sale and distribution of the book. The hearing is scheduled for the afternoon of the 27th.
