Jinju City Participates in the Inaugural Ceremony of the 'Gyeongsangnam-do Drone Council'
City, "Strengthening Drone Competitiveness, Expecting to Lead Future Promising Industries"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 26th that it participated in the inauguration ceremony of the 'Gyeongsangnam-do Drone Council' held at the Grand Mercure Ambassador Changwon at 10 a.m. on the 26th.
The Gyeongsangnam-do Drone Council is a public-private-military drone council organized to strengthen the competitiveness of the drone industry and ensure the safety of drone operations. Participating institutions also signed an agreement to jointly work on enhancing the region's drone competitiveness.
The council includes 11 public, private, and military institutions such as Gyeongsangnam-do, Jinju City, Changwon City, Goseong County, the 39th Infantry Division, Jinhae Base Command, Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency, Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang University, Gyeongnam Technopark, and the Gyeongnam branch of the National Intelligence Service.
The participating institutions plan to cooperate in the future on drone-related information exchange, establishing testbeds to foster the drone industry, and jointly responding to security and safety threats caused by drones.
Jung Joon-seok, Deputy Mayor of Jinju City, who attended the inauguration ceremony, stated, "Through the formation of the Gyeongsangnam-do Drone Council, we expect this to be an opportunity to strengthen the region's drone competitiveness and secure a leading position in a promising future industry."
The city has long been interested in the drone industry, a future growth engine, and has been implementing various policies. Since last year, it has been directly training drone operation experts by supporting the acquisition of national drone licenses, and in the first half of this year, it is creating a drone park in the Geumsan-myeon area to expand the drone base. It is also actively participating in national projects to establish testbeds for drone utilization.
