Yeongdeungpo-gu Village Bus Drivers Receive 500,000 Won Support Per Person
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) will provide financial support to local village bus companies and transportation workers to help them cope with the impact of COVID-19.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has prolonged, village bus transportation companies are facing a management crisis due to a decrease in passengers.
Accordingly, the district announced that it will provide damage relief funds to transportation companies and workers to help the entire transportation industry overcome the crisis and ensure that public transportation services in the community are not disrupted.
The total amount of support for companies is 80 million KRW, fully funded by the district. Each of the eight village bus transportation companies in the area will receive 10 million KRW.
The funds must be used only for necessary operational expenses such as labor costs and vehicle maintenance, and will be reclaimed if used inappropriately.
In addition, the district is accepting applications for damage relief funds for transportation workers who are experiencing difficulties due to the financial hardships of transportation businesses. The relief funds for transportation workers are supported by city funds, and applications were accepted by the district until the 23rd of this month.
Eligibility for the relief fund application is limited to those who have worked as village bus transportation workers in Seoul for at least three months as of the Seoul city announcement date (the 12th of this month).
Each transportation worker will receive 500,000 KRW.
Employers can apply in person at the district’s Transportation Administration Division, and email applications are also accepted. For more details, please refer to the Seoul Metropolitan Government website.
The payment is scheduled for May 20. For submission of related documents and other inquiries, please contact the district’s Transportation Administration Division.
