[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Kim Young-jong, Mayor of Jongno District, participated in the ‘119 Relay Challenge Campaign’ on the 21st to encourage the installation of fire safety equipment in each household to reduce casualties caused by fires.
The ‘119 Relay Challenge’ is an SNS campaign implemented to encourage the district to allocate budget for installing one fire extinguisher and one fire detector per household. It was first launched on November 9 last year, the 58th Firefighting Day, to raise awareness of the importance of fire safety equipment.
In addition to participating in this challenge, Jongno District has also conducted a campaign to support one fire extinguisher per store in traditional markets to minimize damage to residents.
Moreover, the district has been continuously implementing projects to deliver fire extinguishers and fire detectors to vulnerable residents and provide safety inspections, making efforts to prevent fires throughout the region.
Mayor Kim Young-jong said, “We will prioritize residents’ safety and strive to create a safe and healthy city, Jongno, where everyone can live with peace of mind.”
