[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongnam Province expressed expectations for the early realization of the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) Megacity as the circular railway network for the Bu-Ul-Gyeong Megacity construction was reflected in the '4th National Railroad Network Construction Plan' project by the Korea Transport Institute (KOTI), commissioned by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The results of this project were disclosed on the 22nd at a public hearing on the '4th National Railroad Network Construction Plan (2021?2030)' for the next 10 years, held by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport at the Korea Transport Institute.
The Bu-Ul-Gyeong circular metropolitan railway (71.5 km) project connecting Changwon?Gimhae?Yangsan?Ulsan, reflected as a new project in the 4th National Railroad Network, is a project connecting regional hubs.
It was evaluated that the construction of the circular railway, which connects major cities to unify Bu-Ul-Gyeong into a single living area, will accelerate the foundation of the Bu-Ul-Gyeong Megacity platform.
The Busan Nopo?Yangsan Ungsang?Ulsan Station metropolitan railway (50 km) project was also newly included.
This project is also expected to contribute to the early realization of the Bu-Ul-Gyeong Megacity by establishing a Bu-Ul-Gyeong metropolitan railway network, creating a one-hour living zone economic community and a unified living area.
For general railways, the Daehap Industrial Complex Line (5.68 km) was included.
The Daehap Industrial Complex Line is a single-track electric railway connecting Daegu National Industrial Complex to Changnyeong Daehap Industrial Complex.
It is expected to greatly assist not only in handling industrial logistics within the Yeongnam inland area and central inland Gyeongnam industrial logistics but also in passenger transportation between the two regions.
Additionally, the Changwon Industrial Line (49.2 km), connecting Changnyeong Daehap Industrial Complex and Changwon, and the Masan New Port Line (12.7 km), connecting Masan and Masan New Port, were reflected as additional review projects in the 4th National Railroad Network Plan.
