[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Council announced on the 22nd that the "Jeollanam-do Fishing Management and Industry Promotion Ordinance," proposed by Representative Assemblyman Na Gwang-guk (Democratic Party of Korea · Muan 2), passed the review of the Agriculture, Fisheries, and Livestock Committee at the 351st extraordinary session.
This ordinance systematizes fishing-related regulations through projects such as fishing site environment improvement, safety management support, fishing infrastructure development, operation of fishing environment guardians, and establishment of fishing restriction standards, aiming to foster healthy leisure activities.
Assemblyman Na Gwang-guk stated, "This was proposed to respond to the increasing fishing population and new fishing-related demands, to create an advanced fishing culture based on the safety of anglers and sound fishing activities," adding, "We aim to promote the fishing-related industry to contribute to the development of rural fishing villages and improve the quality of life for residents."
He continued, "Once the ordinance is implemented, it is expected to systematize fishing-related regulations to utilize fishing infrastructure (anglers, fishing sites, etc.) as a new growth engine to revitalize fishing villages, which have been declining due to the decrease in fishery resources and fishing village populations, and to address environmental pollution caused by fishing and safety issues of anglers."
