SKT and LS Electric Join Forces for Smart Factory Solutions
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] SK Telecom and LS Electric have joined forces to lead the smart factory business.
On the 22nd, SK Telecom announced that it signed a "partnership agreement for promoting the smart factory business" with LS Electric, the No. 1 domestic factory automation production company. Accordingly, the two companies will combine SK Telecom's cloud-based smart factory artificial intelligence (AI) subscription service "Metatron Grand" with LS Electric's edge computing solution "Edge Hub" to launch the smart factory solution "Edge-To-Cloud."
The Edge-To-Cloud solution collects, stores, and processes equipment data at the "Edge Hub" and then provides it to the cloud, where GrandView offers statistical and AI analysis, diagnosis, prediction, and alarms for the equipment data. Additionally, when a pre-failure alarm occurs in GrandView, it appears on remote monitoring devices within the factory through the Edge Hub and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), enabling immediate equipment control.
This solution, which can monitor, analyze, and control key equipment in manufacturing plants, is utilized in the advanced stages 1 to 2 of smart factory construction levels. It is expected to reduce related costs for small and medium-sized manufacturing companies that find large-scale investments in smart factory construction difficult.
