Seoul City Supports 25 Types of Future Jobs Education for Women... Recruiting 476 Participants
Women's Capability Development Institute Selects 25 Programs Including 3040 New Technology Leading Workforce Training and Post-Corona Strategic Occupations
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Women's Competency Development Institute have selected 25 future job programs for women tailored to the changing employment market and are recruiting 476 trainees to support the entire process from professional vocational training to employment.
According to Seoul City on the 22nd, the Seoul Women's Competency Development Institute selected 25 training programs in five areas?Regional and Corporate Specialization, 3040 New Technology Leading Workforce Development, Future Promising Strategic Occupations, Post-Corona Strategic Occupations, and Young Women Pop-up?through a public contest and review with the Seoul Women's Workforce Development Center and Women's Development Center last March. Nineteen courses are scheduled to start between April and June, followed by recruitment for six additional courses. The total number of recruits is 476.
Following the three fields of Regional Corporate Specialization, 3040 New Technology Leading Workforce Development, and Future Promising Strategic Occupations conducted in 2020, two new fields?Post-Corona Strategic Occupations and Young Women Pop-up?were established this year.
The 10 courses under Regional and Corporate Specialization are unique training programs reflecting the female hiring demands of local companies. These are demand-tailored training courses where local companies directly design or operate the training process based on required job roles, aiming to connect trainees to employment immediately after course completion.
The five courses under 3040 New Technology Leading Workforce Development focus on cultivating female professionals with specialized technical knowledge. The five courses under Future Promising Strategic Occupations are educational programs developed to disseminate promising female occupations in response to changes in the industrial environment and employment market outlook.
The three courses under Post-Corona Strategic Occupations, newly introduced this year, are strategic training programs focusing on occupations emerging prominently in the post-corona era. The two courses under Young Women Pop-up, also newly introduced this year, are customized training programs for young women.
The training period is approximately 2 to 3 months, with full tuition support, and each course is conducted in small groups of about 20 participants to enhance professional vocational skills and employment capabilities. After completion, one-stop support is provided to connect women job seekers to employment. The courses are operated in small groups of 15 to 20 participants, who receive professional vocational training and employment education over 2 to 3 months. After completion, trainees receive specialized employment management services from career counselors, including job counseling and job placement assistance.

Kim Ki-hyun, Seoul City’s Women’s Policy Officer, stated, “Not only traditional vocational training courses required for women but also strengthening the capabilities of female professionals in high value-added fields suitable for future jobs (such as IT, content, design) according to changing employment conditions is necessary. We expect that integrated support for the entire process from professional vocational training to employment linkage through Seoul’s women’s workforce development institutions will create jobs for women and provide a good opportunity for women experiencing career interruptions to re-enter society.”
