View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is joining forces with local organizations to prevent social isolation and solitary deaths among single-person households.
On the 13th, the district held a business agreement ceremony for the ‘Single-Person Household Network Formation System Establishment Project’ with the participation of eight organizations, and will actively promote support policies for single-person households until the end of this year.
This project, prepared as part of the 2021 public-private governance initiative, involves the district and the Gwangjin-gu Community Social Security Council as the core, along with project executing organizations including Junggok, Gwangjang, and Jayang Comprehensive Social Welfare Centers, the Gwangjin Disabled Family Support Center, cooperating organizations such as the Gwangjin-gu Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center, the social cooperative Dounuri, and the Seoul Youth Center Gwangjin Orang.
The main content includes the executing organizations planning and operating small-scale and non-face-to-face network formation programs by categorizing single-person households into types such as youth, disabled, and foreigners, while cooperating organizations share information by institution and provide consultation and support.
Additionally, each participating organization will continuously cooperate to discover resources that can be linked between public and private sectors and seek support policies reflecting the needs of single-person households.

District Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “With the increase in single-person households due to changes in population structure, it is necessary to establish a support system to prevent social isolation and solitary deaths among residents living alone,” adding, “The public and private sectors will put their heads together to understand the needs of various types of single-person households in the region and prepare practical support policies.”
