Gwangju Dong-gu Signs Business Activation Agreement with 9 Local Bookstores
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 20th that it has signed a business agreement with nine local bookstores to expand reading culture and revitalize the management of local bookstores.
At the signing ceremony, Mayor Im Taek of Dong-gu and representatives from nine bookstores in the district, including Gwangwoo Bookstore, Daeyang Bookstore, Black Bookstore White Bookstore, Books and Life, Chungjang Bookstore, Boy’s Bookstore, Sansu Bookstore Kkotipida, Bookstore Simgane Parkssi, and Hana Bookstore, attended and agreed to actively cooperate in the ‘Resident Book Support Project’ promoted by Dong-gu.
The ‘Resident Book Support Project’ is a program where residents can apply for one book out of 100 recommended reading books selected through the Dong-gu book selection committee and receive it through the nine affiliated bookstores in the district.
In particular, through this agreement, it is expected to expand opportunities for residents to visit bookstores, establish a foundation for revitalizing local small bookstores that are going through a more difficult time than ever, and increase residents’ reading opportunities.
Additionally, the district plans to operate bookstore cultural programs such as ▲meetings with authors ▲support for reading clubs ▲book talks.
Mayor Im Taek of Dong-gu said, “I hope this will be an opportunity to revitalize local bookstores through easily accessible book purchases,” and added, “I hope that small bookstores in the district will not only establish a reading culture in daily life but also become a community gathering place through books.”
