Gwangju University Joins Volunteer Efforts Across the Region to Overcome COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Faculty, staff, and students of Gwangju University are participating in volunteer activities taking place throughout the region to overcome COVID-19, delivering messages of hope.
According to the Gwangju University Hosim Social Volunteer Group on the 18th, 34 nursing students began on-site volunteer work at the Gwangju Nam-gu Multipurpose Gymnasium Vaccination Center on the 8th.
They are supporting reception tasks such as managing entry logs and measuring temperatures, as well as providing pre-examination guidance and vaccination instructions to ensure smooth COVID-19 vaccination.
The activity period lasts until the 30th.
In addition, Gwangju University students and staff have taken the lead in practicing life-sharing by participating in the recent “Love Group Blood Donation” volunteer event held at the school.
Especially amid the continuous decline in blood donation participation due to COVID-19, they set an example in the local community by joining the “Blood Donation Campaign to Overcome COVID-19” in March last year, the first among universities in the Gwangju area.
About 50 people participated in the first group blood donation volunteer event this year, and plans are in place to continue working with the Korean Red Cross Gwangju-Jeonnam Blood Center.
Yoon Hong-sang, head of the Gwangju University Hosim Social Volunteer Group, said, “In a situation where sharing activities in the local community have become difficult due to the impact of COVID-19, our members are practicing volunteer work to convey warm hearts,” adding, “We will actively engage in helping neighbors in need by preparing various volunteer programs.”
