Seongdong-gu Opens 'Social Venture Company Consulting Open Office'
Expansion to 339 Local Social Ventures: Customized Consulting Provided at the Social Venture Hub Center... Among Last Year's Participants, 3 Companies Competed in Government-Led Public Projects, Securing 750 Million KRW in Funding
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) will operate the ‘Social Venture Company Consulting Open Office’ (hereinafter referred to as Open Office) from April to November this year for 339 social venture companies in the region aiming to apply for government-supported projects.
The Open Office provides guidance on public contest projects promoted by the government and public institutions for social ventures, as well as consulting for business plan and project submission.
In particular, the target, which was limited last year to resident companies at the Social Venture Hub Center located in Seongsu-dong, has been expanded to 339 social venture companies in the region. Interested companies can receive detailed explanations through a seminar for project guidance at the Social Venture Hub Center on the 29th.
The district conducts customized weekly consultations for pre-registered companies through the Open Office established at the Social Venture Hub Center in Seongsu-dong for corporate consulting. In addition to government support project consulting, technical advice for acquiring patents and intellectual property rights and sales channel support consulting through overseas market analysis are also provided.
Accordingly, a district official explained that this will be of great help to new companies that miss opportunities due to lack of information and social venture companies that hesitate to challenge due to lack of experience despite excellent technology.
Last year, the district conducted this consulting program for the first time targeting 24 resident companies at the Social Venture Hub Center. Among the participating companies, three challenged government-led public contest projects such as the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, securing project funds worth 750 million KRW, laying the foundation for growth.
Companies wishing to participate can apply for the seminar through the Seongdong-gu Office website, the Social Venture Support Platform, and the Startup Development Center SNS (Facebook, Instagram).

Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “To strengthen the social venture ecosystem, practical support measures are needed so that companies can become self-reliant. I hope this consulting will be an opportunity for social venture companies to strengthen their internal capabilities and take a step forward. We will continue to make efforts and provide support for the self-sustainability of social ventures that create youth jobs and solve social problems.”
