Emart×KB Kookmin Bank Launches 'Emart Kookmin Savings' Linking Shopping and Savings Accounts
Up to 10% Annual Interest Rate Offered for Annual Shopping Over 1.2 Million KRW at Emart
Monthly Issuance of 5,000 KRW Discount Coupon for Purchases Over 50,000 KRW at Emart
Limited Sale of 100,000 Accounts Through Pre-Registration from April 19 to 28
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Emart announced on the 18th that it will launch the 'Emart KB 국민 Savings' in partnership with KB Kookmin Bank, linking shopping with savings.
The 'Emart KB 국민 Savings' is a product where customers deposit 100,000 KRW monthly for one year, and if they spend over 1.2 million KRW annually at Emart stores, they can receive an annual interest rate of up to 10.0% (including preferential rates) (excluding Traders, external specialty stores, leased stores, and online malls).
Additionally, upon opening and making deposits into the savings account, customers will receive a coupon every month that offers a 5,000 KRW discount on purchases over 50,000 KRW at Emart offline stores, providing a total shopping discount benefit of 60,000 KRW.
The savings account will be available through a pre-registration and lottery process from April 19 to 28, selecting 100,000 customers. Applications can be made via the 'KB Star Banking App.' Winners will receive an individual subscription link on April 29 and can sign up between May 3 and 9. Customers who are not selected will also have a chance to win a Shinsegae mobile gift card worth 5,000 KRW, with up to 5,000 recipients through a lottery.
Emart cited 'enhancing customer benefits' as the reason for launching this product in partnership with KB Kookmin Bank, aiming to strengthen the competitiveness of offline Emart stores. By increasing the savings interest rate when customers spend a certain amount at Emart and providing monthly discount coupons usable at Emart stores, the initiative encourages natural visits to offline stores.
Beyond product price discounts, Emart has been enhancing customer benefits through various promotions. The cashback promotion 'E-Word,' which allows customers to purchase specific products with zero installment payments when paying a contracted amount or more monthly using designated cards, was first introduced in 2019 and is currently in its eighth round. Popular products often sell out early, prompting additional stock to be supplied, and the promotion has received positive responses each time.
In August last year, Emart launched the '26-Week Savings with Emart' in collaboration with KakaoBank, combining shopping and finance, which attracted about 500,000 subscribers?approximately twice the original target?in just two weeks.
Choi Hoonhak, Emart Marketing Executive Director, said, "We have prepared the 'Emart KB 국민 Savings' to provide both shopping and financial benefits to customers who visit Emart," adding, "We will continue to introduce various promotions to enhance the competitiveness of offline Emart stores."
