Lotte Construction Develops 'Wall-Supported Ceiling System' to Reduce Interfloor Noise

On the 16th, Lotte Construction announced that it has jointly developed a 'Wall-Supported Ceiling System' that reduces noise between floors in multi-family housing, in collaboration with the Seoul City University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and ShinHo Industry Co., Ltd.
The Wall-Supported Ceiling System minimizes the installation of daldai (members connecting the floor slab of the upper unit and the ceiling of the lower unit) directly fixed to the floor slab, thereby blocking the transmission path of vibrations from the upper unit. It applies the principle of reducing noise between floors by adopting a method fixed to the wall. This differentiates it from existing multi-family housing ceilings that directly fix daldai to the upper unit's floor slab using lightweight steel frames or wooden structures.
This technology is the result of a national research project (Project Number 21CTAP-C153065-03) supported by the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement, and currently, five related patents have been filed.
Earlier, in February of this year, Lotte Construction established an Inter-floor Noise Solution Team and is developing noise buffer materials using eco-friendly EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) in collaboration with Lotte Chemical and EPS KOREA.
By concurrently conducting research on the development of high-density finishing mortar with improved workability, the company is accelerating the development of floor structures that reduce noise between floors using composite new materials.
