CJ CheilJedang announced on the 15th that it will launch the improved '2021 New Bibigo Wang Gyoja,' an upgraded version of the existing 'Bibigo Wang Gyoja.' 'Bibigo Wang Gyoja' has led the premiumization of the entire frozen food market beyond just dumplings and is a flagship product that has driven the popularity of the 'Bibigo' brand. Since its launch in December 2013, 'Bibigo Wang Gyoja' has held the No.1 market share since 2015. It has grown at an average annual rate of 33% domestically. Annual sales surpassed 100 billion KRW in 2016 and reached approximately 190 billion KRW last year. The cumulative domestic sales amount to 1.013 trillion KRW. In terms of individual dumplings sold domestically, the number is 4,185,382,920 pieces.
CJ CheilJedang improved the existing 'Bibigo Wang Gyoja' based on consumer research to meet customer expectations. The new ‘Bibigo Wang Gyoja’ maintains the harmonious taste of the dough and filling, which was the strength of the original Wang Gyoja, while reducing the amount of glass noodles and increasing the content of vegetables and lean meat to enhance the fullness of the filling and the lively texture. Additionally, the 'Wang Gyoja exclusive dumpling skin' developed by the Food Research Institute was enhanced by adding raw soybean powder, making the skin more translucent and locking in the juice and flavor.
Taking the Wang Gyoja renewal as an opportunity, CJ CheilJedang plans to continue various attempts to approach consumers with a more friendly image. First, at 8 p.m. on the 19th, a ‘2021 New Bibigo Wang Gyoja Unpack Show’ video with the concept of an IT complete car industry new product launch show will be released on the Bibigo YouTube channel. The video features Kang Ki-moon, head of the Korean R&D Center at CJ CheilJedang’s Food Research Institute known as the 'Father of Dumplings,' and Dipak Gunvante, executive director in charge of the global category at the Food Research Institute, introducing the upgraded ‘Bibigo Wang Gyoja.’
Also, at 9 p.m. on the 19th, CJ CheilJedang will communicate with consumers through Naver Live Commerce ‘Shopping Live.’ Singer DinDin will appear on the broadcast to personally introduce the newly changed Bibigo Wang Gyoja. The ‘2021 New Bibigo Wang Gyoja’ will be available for pre-sale starting on the 15th and will meet consumers nationwide both online and offline by the end of next month.
