Announced Every 5 Years... Major Framework Maintains 2016 Guidelines
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] On the 14th, the government announced the 'National Common Dietary Guidelines,' a guideline for the health and balanced eating habits of the public. This is the first new guideline in five years since 2016, maintaining the major principles such as eating breakfast.
The guidelines, jointly announced by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, include rules in the areas of food and nutrient intake, eating habits, and dietary culture.
In particular, regarding 'food and nutrient intake,' the guidelines emphasize ▲balanced daily consumption of vegetables, fruits, grains, meat, fish, eggs, legumes, milk, and dairy products ▲habits of eating less salty, less sweet, and less greasy foods ▲and drinking enough water.
A government official explained, "The guidelines were prepared to apply the policy matters emphasized by each ministry related to healthy eating habits to everyday life."
