Jangheung-gun Supports School-Outside Youth in Taking the GED Exam

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Jeong Jong-sun) announced on the 9th that since March 2019, it has been supporting out-of-school youths with learning guidance, providing textbooks, and exam registration to help them pass the qualification exam.
Through this, five out-of-school youths in the jurisdiction took the first qualification exam of 2021.
In addition, Jangheung-gun, together with the Out-of-School Youth Support Center (Center Director Kim Eun-joo), is discovering out-of-school youths early and providing not only qualification exam support but also counseling, certification acquisition support, self-development programs (such as acoustic guitar classes), employment support, education participation allowances, health checkups, and meal support.
Especially last year, it was selected for the Out-of-School Youth Exclusive Space Creation Contest project hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and created Dreamtteurak (program room), Haetsaltteurak (rest area/cafe), and study rooms (smart classrooms) reflecting the needs of out-of-school youths. After the exclusive space was created, the usage rate of out-of-school youths also increased.
Governor Jeong Jong-sun said, “We will continue to discover customized education and programs so that out-of-school youths can demonstrate their potential and possibilities.”

Any out-of-school youth aged 9 to 24 residing in Jangheung-gun can receive services, and support consultations can be inquired at the Jangheung-gun Out-of-School Youth Support Center.
