Hwasun-gun to Distribute 'Farmer and Fisherman Disaster Relief Fund' Starting from the 12th
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeollanam-do Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 9th that it will provide 'Disaster Relief Funds for Farmers and Fishermen' to all farming and fishing households starting from the 12th.
The county will provide disaster relief funds of 100,000 KRW per household to all farming and fishing households, separately from the government's 4th disaster relief fund which selectively supports small-scale and five-sector farms.
The support targets are farming and fishing households currently registered as residents in the county and registered with agricultural management information, who received either the public direct payment last year or the farmers and fishermen public allowance this year.
The county expects about 9,000 farming and fishing households to be eligible and has prepared 900 million KRW in county funds. Due to prolonged COVID-19, production decline, and consumption contraction causing significant economic damage to farming and fishing households, the county judged that universal support is necessary and decided to provide disaster relief funds on its own.
Applications can be made from the 12th to the 30th by visiting the Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Centers where the public direct payment or farmers and fishermen public allowance was received, with an ID card.
Proxy applications are also possible with a power of attorney and the proxy's ID card.
The disaster relief funds for farmers and fishermen will be provided as Hwasun Love Gift Certificates upon application. When the eligible farming and fishing household applies, a 'list of payment recipients' will be prepared in advance and placed at the application desk of the Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Centers for on-site payment.
Second applicants for the farmers and fishermen public allowance will receive additional payments after the eligibility is confirmed.
However, farming and fishing households that have died after receiving the public direct payment or farmers and fishermen public allowance, or those who are not currently registered residents in the county and have not registered agricultural management information, are excluded from the payment.
Governor Gu Chung-gon said, "Due to last year's natural disasters and prolonged COVID-19, the scale of damage to farms is increasing, and the COVID-19 outbreak is not subsiding, causing triple or quadruple hardships," adding, "Although the disaster relief funds for farmers and fishermen may not be sufficient, I hope it will be a timely help to overcome the current crisis."
