At the elderly care facility in Gyeongsan, where three workers tested positive during a proactive screening of vulnerable facilities at the end of last month, confirmed cases have been continuously emerging every day. In various areas including Pohang, confirmed cases of worshippers who visited sister churches in other regions are also continuing.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 6th, as of midnight that day, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area was 3,619 (including 91 imported cases), an increase of 25 from the previous day.
The number of new confirmed cases by region is 14 in Gyeongsan City, 4 each in Pohang City and Gyeongju City, and 1 each in Andong City, Gumi City, and Chilgok County.
Among the 14 new confirmed cases in Gyeongsan City, 8 are related to the elderly care facility in Gyeyang-dong. Six workers and two patients at this facility were additionally confirmed positive during the comprehensive investigation. The number of confirmed cases related to this facility has increased to 56 in the past week (as of midnight on the 6th).
Among the 4 new confirmed cases in Pohang City, 2 are attendees of church gatherings located in Gyeonggi-do, and the other 2 are contacts of earlier confirmed cases Pohang 530 and Pohang 534.
Among the 4 new confirmed cases in Gyeongju City, 1 was identified through proactive testing at a multi-use facility, and the other 3 are contacts of earlier confirmed cases.
One confirmed case each in Andong City and Gumi City attended churches located in Gangwon-do and Gyeonggi-do, respectively, and the confirmed case in Chilgok County was a contact of a confirmed case in Daegu who tested positive during a test before release from self-quarantine.
