Mokpo City Announces Innovative Ideas Contest to Reduce Household Waste
Anyone Can Participate Until the 7th of Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 5th that it will hold a contest for innovative ideas to effectively reduce household waste.
According to a city official, "The contest will be held from April 5 to May 7, and any Mokpo citizen can participate."
The contest themes are ▲Ways to reduce various household wastes ▲Ways to reduce recyclable waste ▲Ways to reduce food waste.
Participants can submit their ideas via the National Petition website or by mail to the Mokpo City Resource Circulation Division.
The city plans to evaluate proposals based on creativity, economy, efficiency, and sustainability, and notify winners individually in June. The grand prize (1 person) is 3 million KRW, the silver prize (1 person) is 2 million KRW, the bronze prize (2 people) is 1 million KRW each, the encouragement prize (3 people) is 500,000 KRW each, and the effort prize (5 people) is 100,000 KRW each.

A city official emphasized, "Since 1995, Mokpo City has been landfilling household waste at a sanitary landfill, but it is currently about 98% full. To continue using the resource recovery (incineration) facility and the sanitary landfill, reducing waste is urgently needed. We will actively reflect ideas judged to be effective in reducing various wastes through this contest into policy."
