Dunchon Jugong in a Hurry Faces Setback in Electing New Union Head... Will General Sales Be Delayed?
Law prohibits holding temporary general meeting on the 4th... Election of new union head postponed
Concerns over delay in general sales scheduled for the second half
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] The Dunchon Jugong Apartment complex in Dunchon-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, which is undergoing reconstruction as a mammoth complex of over 12,000 households, is once again being hampered by internal disputes, making delays in the general sale schedule inevitable. This is because the court prohibited the holding of the reconstruction association's extraordinary general meeting scheduled for the 4th.
According to the maintenance industry on the 6th, the Seoul Eastern District Court granted an injunction on the 2nd to prohibit the holding of the general meeting filed by some reconstruction association members against the association. The court explained that under the acting management system, any agenda beyond the usual scope of duties of the acting manager requires prior court approval.
The Dunchon Jugong reconstruction association, currently under an acting management system, was scheduled to hold an extraordinary general meeting on the 4th to elect a new executive team including the association head and officers. However, some members from the previous executive team applied for an injunction to prohibit the meeting last month, causing another setback.
The Dunchon Jugong reconstruction is considered the largest-scale reconstruction project to date. It involves building apartments and auxiliary facilities with up to 35 floors and 85 buildings, totaling 12,032 households, in the area of 170-1, Dunchon 1-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul. In particular, the general sale units alone amount to 4,786 households, attracting significant interest from buyers.
With the cancellation of this extraordinary general meeting, the general sale schedule for the Dunchon Jugong reconstruction is expected to be further delayed. The association planned to complete the election of the association head within April and proceed swiftly with subsequent procedures to launch the general sale in the second half of this year. However, with the halt in forming the new executive team, the future sale schedule is inevitably delayed.
