Gyeonggi-do to Develop Three 'Tourist Attractions' Including Baegun Valley
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will develop three sites, including Baegun Valley in Pocheon, which has transformed into a 'clean valley' through the removal of illegal facilities, into tourist attractions.
The province announced on the 5th that it selected three projects as part of the 'Clean Valley Tourism Attraction Project': ▲Pocheon Baegun Valley's 'Four Seasons Picnic Experience' ▲Yeoju Jurok-ri Valley's 'Deer Playing in Jurok-ri Valley Experience' ▲Gapyeong Jomurakgol and Yongso Valley's 'Return of the Fireflies.'
The province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will provide not only budget support for these projects but also close consulting from experts in tourism and marketing.
In particular, they will focus on nurturing content that can only be experienced in these three regions.
Regarding project support by city and county, Pocheon City has developed a 'selective picnic package' that allows valley picnics not only during the summer peak season but also in spring and autumn. They plan to discover tourism products that satisfy visitors during both peak and off-peak seasons and install photo zones to provide attractions.
Yeoju City will organically utilize the Jurok-ri Valley, dense forests, and experiential activity programs operated by Jurok-ri Village to run experience and relaxation (healing) programs targeting small-scale tourists. Various programs such as valley water play, woodworking experience, nature exploration, and forest interpretation will be conducted year-round to enhance the charm of Jurok-ri Valley throughout all four seasons.
Gapyeong County will promote tourism programs utilizing the clear natural environment in the designated clean area around Jomurakgol and Yongso Valley in Jeokmok-ri. These include night view observation, meditation, trail walking (trekking), and visiting small performances.
Choi Yong-hoon, director of the province's Tourism Division, emphasized, "With experience programs reflecting the characteristics of each region, we will not only revitalize local businesses but also develop clean valleys into tourism models that can be visited year-round."
