Suspect in 'Three Women Murder' Discharged from Hospital... Police Execute Arrest Warrant
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] A man in his 20s suspected of murdering three women from the same family in an apartment in Nowon-gu, Seoul, was released from the hospital and arrested by the police.
The Nowon Police Station in Seoul executed an arrest warrant for suspect A at around 11:20 a.m. on the 2nd in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Nowon-gu and transferred him to the police station.
The police plan to check A’s condition and begin a full investigation. They intend to question A about the exact circumstances and motives of the crime. Once a statement is secured, they plan to apply for a detention warrant. If necessary, they are also considering conducting an on-site inspection.
A visited an apartment in Junggye-dong, Nowon-gu on the 23rd, murdered three women from the same family, and attempted self-harm, after which he was transported to a nearby hospital. On the 25th, the police responded to a report from an acquaintance of the victims stating that "they could not contact their friend," but upon arrival, the three women were already deceased. A weapon presumed to be the murder weapon was found at the scene. It is known that A was acquainted with the eldest daughter who died.
The police had previously obtained an arrest warrant for A but could not execute it due to his hospitalization. Medical staff had also indicated that A needed more time to recover.
The police obtained a search warrant for the mobile phone A was carrying and requested digital forensic work from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. They also secured additional mobile phones believed to have been used by A at his residence in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It is understood that A lived there with his parents.
