Uljin-gun, Buk-myeon Hadang 'Rural Village Sewage Treatment Plant' Completed
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor Jeon Chan-geol) announced on the 1st that it has completed the Hadang Rural Village Sewage Treatment Plant
The area where the newly completed village sewage treatment plant is located is upstream of the Uljin Namdaecheon, a water source protection zone. It is a popular spot among tourists with various experience facilities such as Gusugok Natural Recreation Forest.
The Hadang Rural Village Sewage Treatment Plant is part of the Ministry of Environment's rural village sewage project. The basic design started in 2016, and after completing administrative procedures and securing a budget of 10.3 billion KRW, construction began in July 2019. Since then, the plant (with a daily capacity of 150 tons), 11.5 km of sewage pipelines, and 182 drainage facilities have been completed. After trial operations until February this year, it was officially completed on March 30.
Through this project, domestic sewage discharged from 182 households in three villages including Hadang-ri is collected at the sewage treatment plant, where pollutants are removed and purified before discharge.
This not only eliminates odors and improves hygiene within homes but also contributes to preserving water quality along the East Coast. Additionally, when constructing new buildings, the previous need for sewage treatment facilities and septic tanks is eliminated, reducing construction costs.
