On the 30th, eBay Korea selected the 10th awardees and delivered prize money and plaques to a total of 30 people remotely. The eBay Export Star is Korea's first online export competition launched in 2011 by eBay Korea to discover and nurture new sellers wishing to export overseas.
This time, due to COVID-19, all business briefings and training sessions were conducted through eBay's official overseas sales YouTube channel. A total of 2,200 small and medium sellers participated, achieving a transaction amount of 5.3 billion KRW.
The awardees were comprehensively evaluated based on sales amount, number of sales items, purchase conversion rate, innovativeness, and event participation, selecting 15 eBay sellers and 15 Gmarket Global sellers. Additionally, to ensure fair judging, new sellers who started selling from 2020 and existing sellers who began before 2020 were evaluated separately.
The grand prize in the new seller category was awarded to Mr. Yu Gang-sik, who sells coffee supplies and Hallyu miscellaneous goods. Mr. Yu, a one-person seller who started his business through eBay Export Star mentoring education while preparing for the tax exam, recorded total sales of 250,000 USD and became the recipient of the top prize of 10 million KRW.
