Park Young-sun: "LH Reform Needed... Establish Supervisory Agency and Deploy Special Investigators"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Park Young-sun, the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate for Seoul mayor, said on the 30th, "LH was formed during the Lee Myung-bak administration by merging L and H, that is, the Land Corporation and the Housing Corporation, which became problematic, and I believe reform is necessary."
On the same day, in response to a question from Lee Soo-bong, the Minsheng Party's candidate for Seoul mayor, asking about measures to prevent the LH scandal, Park said, "I believe reform of LH is necessary."
She added, "The trust of Seoul citizens in SH is also not solid, so I think a real estate supervision agency should be established," and stated, "We need to monitor real estate transactions in Seoul and deploy special investigators to thoroughly reform speculation."
In response to a question from Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate, about the effectiveness of housing stability measures, she answered, "There are 34 public rental housing complexes over 30 years old. Some construction has already started, so it is important to build houses first where construction has begun, start relocation, and then transform public rental housing into a 21st-century model."
Park explained, "Apartments from the 1980s were built mainly for four-person households. Since the demand for one- to two-person households is increasing, we plan to reduce the size of units and increase the number of households," adding, "We will develop public communities by building swimming pools and libraries, which will also encourage private development."

Regarding housing stability measures, which was a common question from the moderator, Park said, "One out of two people is a homeless non-homeowner," and stated, "We will utilize permanent rental apartment complexes over 30 years old in the Gangbuk area." She also said, "In addition, we will include 124,000 units in water recycling centers, bus garages, and private land, including the supply volume from the 2.4 Plan." She added, "Besides the land lease method, we will supply 120,000 units of equity accumulation type housing, 1- and 2-person household women’s safe housing, and 20,000 units of youth housing."
