Suncheon City Women's Culture Center, New Name Contest

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 30th that it will hold a contest to rename the Suncheon Women's Culture Center, a meaningful cultural activity space and learning hub in the region accessible to all citizens, until the 16th of next month.

The city was selected for this year's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Living SOC Complex Project contest and plans to transform the Women's Culture Center into a living cultural space and learning hub for all citizens, reborn as an educational and cultural complex service space in the new urban area.

In this naming contest, the city plans to select a new name that symbolizes a space where all citizens can gather, a regional cultural and learning hub, and is easy and friendly for anyone to call, based on criteria such as creativity, symbolism, popularity, and locality.

Applications can be submitted by downloading the application form from the Suncheon City website, writing the proposed name and its meaning, and sending it via email by the 16th of next month.

Anyone can participate, and after evaluation of the proposed names, prizes will be awarded as follows: one grand prize of 500,000 KRW, two excellence prizes of 300,000 KRW each, and five encouragement prizes of 200,000 KRW each. The results will be announced on the 21st of next month.

Meanwhile, the city was selected for this year's Living SOC Complex Project and will invest 1.4 billion KRW to create a small library and a living culture center (including a multipurpose hall, resident autonomous space, and specialized facilities) at the Women's Culture Center, with plans to reopen in January next year.
