Maeil Dairies Sponsors 100 Million KRW to 'Gwangju Biennale' for Cultural and Artistic Development
Strengthening Online Exhibitions and Establishing Viewing Guidelines to Ensure Thorough COVID-19 Prevention
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Maeil Dairies is sponsoring 100 million KRW to support the successful hosting of the 13th Gwangju Biennale and the development of culture, arts, and the local community.
Marking its 13th edition this year, the Gwangju Biennale will be held for 39 days from May 1 to May 9 under the theme "Rising Heart, Welcoming Soul." A total of 69 artists will participate, presenting over 200 multifaceted works, including 40 commissioned pieces. Since its inaugural event in 1995, the Gwangju Biennale has led contemporary art discourse for 26 years. This 13th edition is expected to realize an experimental contemporary art exhibition that prioritizes visitor safety and organically circulates between online and offline formats.

Maeil Dairies plans to use part of the sponsorship funds to purchase admission tickets and invite families of Maeil Dairies’ agency owners and customers interested in culture and arts to visit the Gwangju Biennale exhibition halls, as well as the National Gwangju Museum and Gwangju Theater. Additionally, students from art, architecture, and cultural arts departments nationwide will be invited to attend sessions where participating artists introduce their works and explain their artistic worlds.
