[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Choyoung] Yoo Seung-min, a former member of the People Power Party and a leading candidate for the next presidential election, evaluated former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl as "a very strong competitor" and advocated for unification within the opposition, including Yoon.
On the 29th, Yoo appeared on KBS Radio's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strongest Current Affairs' and stated, "To change the regime next year, we must select the most competitive unified candidate from the opposition."
He said, "The People Power Party should open its doors to former Prosecutor General Yoon, Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People Party, and Hong Joon-pyo, an independent lawmaker, and hold a primary election within the party to select a unified candidate. This should be our major strategy. When starting politics, some may hesitate to join the People Power Party. Therefore, the party itself must undergo change and innovation," he emphasized.
He continued, "We need to hold a party convention that embraces change and innovation, making the People Power Party a place where people like former Prosecutor General Yoon would willingly join. Even if a third zone or third party is initially formed, they will eventually have to merge," he predicted.

Regarding Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party's Seoul mayoral candidate, who is leading in various polls, Yoo said, "I view this positively, but the outcome depends on the voter turnout of citizens in the middle, not just the active supporters on both sides." He added, "I think the moderate voters have clearly turned away from this regime compared to the last general election."
