The 'Jiin Project' is an abbreviation of the '2021 Single-Person Household Management System through Local Networks' and is a program aimed at promoting healthy daily living for single-person households.
Over the past five years, the number of single-person households has increased by about 5% annually. However, many households show low income and asset levels, leading to issues not only in dietary habits but also long-term social isolation and solitary death. The district has fully prepared to address these problems.
Accordingly, the district has established a public-private cooperation system with Oksu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Seongdong Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Seongsu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and Seongdong-gu Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center. As of the end of December last year, out of a total of 135,870 households, 57,370 single-person households account for 42.2% of all households. Various support measures by private organizations by region have been prepared for these households.
First, Oksu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center has prepared various themed programs including local campaigns to activate community activities for single-person households, cooking, hobby activities, and production of a single-person living guidebook.
Seongdong Comprehensive Social Welfare Center supports horticulture, craft activities, and side dish-making gatherings by neighborhood, while Seongsu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center supports regular club activities for single-person households with similar interests.
In particular, due to the prolonged social distancing caused by COVID-19, the number of people feeling isolated and depressed is increasing. To support single-person households who are socially disconnected and psychologically vulnerable, Seongdong-gu Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center plans to provide psychological and emotional programs and financial education to reduce depression and loneliness, thereby supporting psychological quarantine for them.
