[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] Regarding Park Young-sun, the Democratic Party of Korea's Seoul mayoral candidate, who said during her campaign that "people in their 20s have low experience," Yoon Hee-sook, a member of the People Power Party, criticized her by saying, "She treats the desperate cries of young people as nonsense."
On the 28th, Representative Yoon posted on her social media (SNS), "When they themselves had no experience, they endlessly exploited the democratization movement, but now they say young people are ignorant and lack judgment," and pointed out, "They kicked away the ladder that young people with no experience, connections, or assets wanted to climb, and now they even dismiss the desperate cries of young people as nonsense."
Representative Yoon said, "Young people always lack experience, and the current 586 generation also had no experience when they were 386," adding, "That is why they could not simply accept the contradictory reality and engaged in the democratization movement. Because young people lack experience, they can see the present as it is, which is correct."
She continued, "If I were in my 20s now, I would join the anti-Democratic Party and anti-government protests," and said, "Why does candidate Park boldly say the arrogant words that young people dislike them because they are ignorant? It is because they themselves have already become thick-faced vested interests. They are busy dividing and enjoying among themselves and belittle the young people who are struggling hard."
She added, "That said, it is not that young people like the opposition party either. If the opposition party is under the illusion that young people dislike the ruling party because the opposition is right, they still have a long way to go."
Representative Yoon argued, "Still, I think the side that tries to understand the hearts of the next generation and humbly tries to be with them has potential. This is because the pain and anger that young people feel accurately reflect our current position and are also the issue that will determine the future."

Meanwhile, on the 26th, when asked about the low approval ratings among people in their 20s, candidate Park responded, "In the case of people in their 20s, their experience with past history is lower than that of people in their 40s and 50s. So, they tend to view various situations happening now only from the current point in time," which sparked controversy.
After the opposition party raised the issue as a "youth disparagement remark," candidate Park explained, "My intention was distorted," and said, "There was a young person in their 20s who told me, 'The opposition party calls President Moon Jae-in a dictator, but we did not experience the Jeon Doo-hwan era, so it is hard to make an easy comparison.' I was trying to convey that, but it seems to have been distorted and edited."
