According to a report by the Mainichi Shimbun (每日) on the 28th, former Prime Minister Mori referred to a female secretary who had worked for a long time with LDP House of Representatives member Kawagawamura Takeo (河村建夫) by saying, "There is a remarkable lady in Mr. Kawagawamura's room," adding, "She is too old to be called a woman."
This remark was made while explaining at a political fundraising event for Representative Kawagawamura held on the 26th that he had known the female secretary for a long time.
In response, Japanese netizens pointed out that Mori had once again made a misogynistic remark.
On this day, posts criticizing former Prime Minister Mori's inappropriate remarks were continuously uploaded on social media.

One user on the social networking service Twitter commented, "(Mori) is elderly, so I assume he does not drive and would have surrendered his driver's license if he had one. That aside, why does he confuse the brake and accelerator pedals so much?" criticizing his choice of words.
Another Japanese netizen expressed disappointment, saying, "Former Prime Minister Mori, you are also too old. Your remarks are really terrible."
The social activist group Shin Nihon Fujinkai (New Japan Women's Association) commented on Twitter, "Mori has shown no remorse at all."
