KT Supplies Cloud-Based Video Conferencing Platform to Gwangmyeong City Hall
Starting Next Month, 'KT BizMeet' Service to Be Provided
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] KT announced on the 28th that it will provide the cloud-based video conferencing platform ‘KT BizMeet’ to 1,300 employees at Gwangmyeong City Hall in Gyeonggi Province.
The video conferencing solution for Gwangmyeong City Hall will be offered from next month as a Software as a Service (SaaS) using KT G-Cloud, a cloud dedicated to public institutions. Costs are calculated based on the number of software users, making it efficient, and since it is based on the G-Cloud verified for security by government agencies, it is stable.
KT BizMeet, launched by KT in January this year, is a useful solution for video conferencing, smart offices (remote work), non-face-to-face education, and video consultations, which have become routine due to COVID-19. It is also praised for its efficiency in webinars as it supports thousands of simultaneous connections.
Main features include ▲an environment supporting up to 5,000 participants ▲guaranteed clear video and audio quality ▲compatibility with various codecs for video, audio, and peripheral devices ▲temporary data deletion after meetings to enhance security.
Mobile video conferencing functionality is also provided, enabling Gwangmyeong city officials to offer video consultations to citizens from anywhere. Gwangmyeong City and KT expect that the SaaS model, which charges based on the number of users, will reduce budgets compared to building a separate electronic meeting system and increase flexibility in non-face-to-face administrative tasks.
Lee Mi-hee, Executive Director of KT Cloud/DX Business Division, said, “We are pleased that KT’s customized solutions are helping Gwangmyeong City Hall’s non-face-to-face work innovation,” adding, “Just as non-face-to-face SaaS solutions have strengthened remote work and video conferencing, which became essential due to COVID-19, we will introduce various cloud-based ICT solutions to support companies’ digital innovation.”

Meanwhile, KT BizMeet can be easily subscribed to as a monthly service without a cloud console via the KT Cloud Biz Store. To encourage trial use, a one-month free usage benefit is offered to new subscribers until the end of this year. KT plans to introduce various business solutions and industry-specialized SaaS to help mid-sized and small businesses and small merchants innovate their work based on the cloud.
