View original image[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Daejeon increased by 8. Among them, 5 are believed to have been infected through a sashimi restaurant, which has recently shown signs of cluster infections, and through a confirmed case from Dongjak-gu.
According to Daejeon City on the 26th, confirmed cases numbered 1254 to 1261 were reported in the region that day. Among them, Daejeon 1259 is an acquaintance of 1252, and Daejeon 1261 is an acquaintance of 1235. The existing confirmed cases 1235 and 1252 were diagnosed positive for COVID-19 after visiting a sashimi restaurant in Seo-gu.
Earlier, on the 19th, Daejeon case 1227, who had visited the sashimi restaurant in Seo-gu, was first confirmed positive on the 22nd after undergoing a COVID-19 test due to symptoms such as sore throat and muscle pain.
Subsequently, 13 people, including customers who were at the same sashimi restaurant at the same time, a worker at a restaurant next to the sashimi restaurant, and acquaintances of the infected, were sequentially confirmed positive. It is estimated that about 190 customers were present at the sashimi restaurant on the day 1227 visited.
In particular, cases 1259 and 1261 in Daejeon, despite not having visited the sashimi restaurant, appear to have been infected through acquaintances of existing confirmed cases, increasing the likelihood of additional 'n-th generation infections' mediated by the sashimi restaurant.
On the same day, the number of infections linked to a confirmed case from Dongjak-gu, Seoul, also increased by 3 (Daejeon 1254-1255, 1258), bringing the total to 10.
Daejeon cases 1254 and 1255 are classified as contacts of Daejeon 1236, who resides in Dong-gu, and case 1258 is classified as a contact of Daejeon 1249, who resides in Daedeok-gu.
Previously, case 1236 was confirmed positive on the 25th after contact with a confirmed case (1287) from Dongjak-gu, Seoul, between the 17th and 18th.
Confirmed cases infected through 1236 include 1236's mother (Daejeon 1247), four friends (Daejeon 1237, 1238, 1242, 1249), and a friend's family member (Daejeon 1253).

Meanwhile, on the same day, three residents from Seo-gu (Daejeon 1257) and Daedeok-gu (Daejeon 1256, 1260) were also confirmed positive. These confirmed cases have no confirmed connection to the sashimi restaurant or the confirmed case from Dongjak-gu, Seoul, and health authorities are currently investigating their infection routes.
