Ri Pyong-chol of North Korea: "Missile Launch is Sovereign Nation's Right to Self-Defense... Biden's Remarks are Blatant Provocation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Ri Pyong-chol, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Vice Chairman of the Party Central Military Commission, condemned on the 27th in a statement that U.S. President Biden's remark about 'violation of UN resolutions' is an infringement and provocation against the sovereign nation's right to self-defense.
Korean Central News Agency reported that Vice Chairman Ri stated in the statement, "The recent test launch of the new tactical guided missile is a legitimate act of a sovereign nation’s right to self-defense, carried out as a necessary step in implementing the national defense science policy goals set by our Party and government to strengthen national defense capabilities."
Vice Chairman Ri emphasized, "Given the current situation where the South and the U.S. continuously conduct dangerous war exercises and bring in advanced weapons, creating a constant military threat to the Korean Peninsula, we must accumulate thorough physical power to reliably protect our nation's security," adding, "This is a normal weapons test that belongs to our nation's right to self-defense."
