[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Lee Dong-jin, Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council of District Mayors (Mayor of Dobong-gu), presided over the 158th regular online meeting of the Seoul Metropolitan Council of District Mayors on the 25th.
The 158th Seoul Metropolitan Council of District Mayors reviewed and approved a total of 10 agenda items, including proposals to improve ventilation system standards to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19. The approved agenda items will be discussed in greater depth at the April regular meeting between Seoul City and autonomous districts, and then forwarded to Seoul City and the central government.
In particular, during this regular meeting, the council received updates on key environmental policy issues from Minister of Environment Han Jeong-ae.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged regarding the operation status and support measures of each local government related to discussion topics such as ▲community participation in ‘2050 Carbon Neutrality’ ▲expansion of hydrogen charging stations in the Seoul area ▲establishment of a high-quality recycling system through separate collection of transparent PET bottles.

Lee Dong-jin, Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council of District Mayors, stated, “As global attention focuses on carbon neutrality, local governments, as the actual implementers of carbon neutrality, must raise awareness and willingness to act on carbon neutrality and environmental issues within their communities.” He added, “We will gather opinions from each local government and strive to ensure effective cooperation between the central government and local regions.”
