View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Sokcho City in Gangwon Province, where COVID-19 cases have recently surged, identified 34 asymptomatic cases (as of the morning of the 25th) through a proactive citywide testing initiative to block infection spread.
According to Sokcho City on the 25th, from the 18th to the 24th, over 30% of the city’s population (60% of households) underwent COVID-19 testing, which is more than three times the initially targeted 7,000 tests, totaling 24,880 tests.
Testing results revealed 7 asymptomatic cases on the first day of testing, the 18th; 4 on the 19th; 9 on the 20th; 6 on the 21st; 2 on the 22nd; 3 on the 23rd; and 3 on the 24th, totaling 34 asymptomatic confirmed cases, thereby creating an opportunity to prevent further transmission within the community.
The city plans to continue its efforts by deploying 235 dedicated public officials to regularly monitor the health status of 860 individuals in self-quarantine, focusing all efforts on quarantine and infection prevention activities.
