[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun stated on the 25th, "President Moon Jae-in and the First Lady have been vaccinated, and tomorrow (the 26th), I, as the head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH), will also be vaccinated."
During a briefing on current issues at the Government Seoul Office in the afternoon, Prime Minister Chung said, "We have been eagerly waiting for a long time," and added, "Please watch to see what happens when bacteria meet the vaccine." He also urged, "I ask the public to feel reassured and actively participate in the vaccination."
President Moon was vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine on the 23rd in preparation for attending the upcoming Group of Seven (G7) summit to be held in the UK in June. The AstraZeneca vaccine is scheduled to be administered starting next month, prioritizing the elderly aged 75 and above, while Prime Minister Chung is 71 years old this year.

When asked about the reason behind his vaccination, Prime Minister Chung said, "As the head of the CDSCH, I decided to get vaccinated after careful consideration to encourage more people to get vaccinated and to convey the message that 'it is advantageous to get vaccinated and there is no significant risk in doing so,'" adding, "It is not a major violation of the order."
