Daegu Dongseong-ro 'Smart Shopping Tourism Service' Construction Completed
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Domestic and international tourists visiting Daegu Dongseong-ro can now enjoy smart shopping with just a mobile phone.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 24th that they have completed the establishment of the smart shopping tourism pilot project service in the Dongseong-ro area of Daegu, which has been jointly promoted since last October with Daegu Metropolitan City and Jung-gu Office of Daegu Metropolitan City. To build a smart shopping tourism service environment that integrates tourism and ICT technology, the organization has been promoting the service construction work from the early stages of the project by discovering region-customized service content and selecting participating businesses (consortiums).
To enjoy the service in Dongseong-ro, visitors must first access the web-based shopping tourism service platform. Through this, visitors can receive information about nearby stores, restaurants, and tourist attractions centered on their location, and explore the interior and exterior of stores through virtual reality (VR). In addition, they can instantly pay for desired product exchange vouchers via mobile, and purchase about 20 types of tour passes that sell various packages of Dongseong-ro’s food, sights, entertainment, and shopping at affordable prices.
Also, through the augmented reality (AR) virtual fitting kiosk installed in the Dongseong-ro tourist information center, visitors can virtually try on clothing and jewelry, and enjoy AR mission tours where they complete missions by visiting stores or tourist spots and receive prizes. Other services include multilingual store and product information linked via QR codes inside stores, product storage and pickup services through advance payment, and more, all provided in five languages (Korean, English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese).
Meanwhile, until the 28th, promotional events such as tour pass discounts and prize events for mission tour participants are being held on the shopping tourism service platform to increase service awareness and usage. The organization plans to continuously promote the charm of Korean-style smart shopping tourism to domestic and foreign visitors through seasonal discount and prize events, SNS, and other marketing activities.
