Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and SK Telecom Collaborate to Establish Voice Phishing Number Blocking Process
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SK Telecom on the 24th to prevent and block voice phishing.
Through this agreement, the police and SK Telecom will cooperate to establish and operate a 'criminal-use phone number blocking process.' When the police provide SK Telecom with phone numbers used in voice phishing crimes, SK Telecom will block those numbers. This process has been in pilot operation since mid-last month.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency stated, "We plan to actively pursue cooperation measures with other telecommunications companies and related organizations," and requested active participation to eradicate voice phishing, an antisocial crime that infringes on public livelihood.
