"Even If Sexually Assaulted, Just Forget It"... Controversy Over Middle School Teacher's Offensive Remarks
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] An allegation has been raised that a teacher at a middle school in Daejeon told students during a career class that "even if you were sexually assaulted, you have to forget it," prompting the education authorities to conduct a fact-finding investigation.
According to the Daejeon Office of Education on the 23rd, a complaint was filed with the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission's National Petition Board stating that on the 19th, during a career class at a middle school in Daejeon, teacher A said to students, "Even if you were sexually assaulted in elementary school, you have to forget it."
Teacher A reportedly pointed to a specific student and said, "XX wet their pants during an exam in elementary school. But you have to forget all that," and it was also reported that before the class started, the teacher spoke loudly with the children without wearing a mask.
The school explained, "The intention was to encourage everyone to forget past mistakes made by friends and work hard to be happy together, and to forget what happened in elementary school and start anew as middle school students. However, the remarks caused misunderstandings."
The local Seobu Office of Education conducted a survey on the same day targeting students from five classes who attended the class to accurately understand the remarks and also implemented sensitivity education.
