Sejong Telecom Launches 'Sejong Call Manager Service' with 050 Safe Number Application
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Sejong Telecom is launching a safe number service that allows teachers to make calls and send texts without exposing their personal mobile phone numbers.
On the 23rd, Sejong Telecom announced the launch of the ‘Sejong Call Manager Service,’ which provides teachers with a safe number (050) enabling calls and texts without revealing their mobile phone numbers.
Recently, teachers’ mobile phone numbers have been indiscriminately exposed, leading to an increase in cases of infringement on teachers’ rights. According to a 2018 survey on ‘Infringement of Teachers’ Rights Due to Mobile Phones’ conducted by the Korea Federation of Teachers’ Associations targeting about 1,800 teachers, many teachers suffered from calls outside working hours, and 68.2% of respondents opposed the disclosure of their mobile phone numbers. The Sejong Call Manager Service was developed to minimize issues related to protecting teachers’ rights and incomplete communication with parents (students).
The usage method involves assigning teachers a work phone number with the safe number (050) applied, which is linked to their personal mobile phones. When parents (students) want to connect with a teacher, they are guided to call the teacher’s work phone number with the pre-set safe number (050). During times when calls are not possible, such as class hours, business trips, or after work hours, the service can switch to a ‘call unavailable’ response message.
Call logs received during unavailable times can be checked through the Sejong Call Manager Service web portal, allowing teachers to review missed calls during available hours and respond via call or text. Additionally, the web portal offers a user interface/user experience (UI/UX) designed to facilitate easy management of call and text logs, address books, and schedules.

Kang Hyosang, Head of Telecommunications Business at Sejong Telecom, stated, “As privacy and personal life protection have become important social issues, concerns about mobile phone use, which is a point of exposure for personal information, have been raised. For teachers and civil service workers, whose work-life boundaries are blurred, the Sejong Call Manager Service will play a significant role in reducing work fatigue.”
