Hospital says "Petition is not true"
Police request medical accident evaluation
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A national petition has been posted requesting punishment for a doctor after losing a baby due to surgery performed by an obstetrician-gynecologist under the influence of alcohol.
On the 21st, a petition titled "Please punish the murderous doctor and hospital who killed my son whom I carried for ten months. I am a mother who lost my baby in the womb due to surgery performed by my attending physician while intoxicated" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board.
The petitioner began by saying, "I am a mother of a five-month-old daughter. If the following incident had not happened, I would have been a mother of twins with a five-month-old daughter and son."
According to the post, the petitioner visited an obstetrics and gynecology hospital known for having doctors skilled in twin deliveries.
Doctor B was the attending physician responsible for prenatal care, and on the 36 weeks and 1 day mark, the amniotic sac broke without labor pains, so she went to the hospital with her husband around 7 a.m.
At that time, since Doctor B was off duty, the on-duty doctor C examined the petitioner.
The petitioner said, "Doctor C examined me and laughed, saying the twins were in such good condition that I could have a natural delivery, then left."
Meanwhile, the petitioner heard that "attending physician Doctor B said she would perform a cesarean section and would come by 4 p.m."
The petitioner added, "The nurses also said the babies were fine, so I could wait comfortably."
Suddenly, at 9 p.m., with the nurses bustling about, on-duty Doctor C came to me and said the baby's heartbeat was not well detected and casually remarked, "The son wouldn't have a chance even if born," then left the room.
She wrote, "Upon hearing that, I lost consciousness and underwent emergency cesarean surgery, but I was told my son had died. I never saw his face."
She continued, "At that time, attending physician B entered the operating room hurriedly, reeking of strong alcohol. After the surgery, the police on site conducted a breathalyzer test on the staggering attending physician and found him to be heavily intoxicated."

The petitioner wrote, "This was not a normal situation, but an emergency where a baby's heartbeat was not well detected. The attending physician, fully intoxicated, entered the operating room. He was a murderer who either did not care if my son died or intended to kill him. The on-duty doctor C, who idled around the ward calmly until Doctor B arrived, is also an accomplice in murdering our precious son."
The petitioner also expressed outrage at the hospital's irresponsible response after the incident.
She wrote, "The hospital said that on-duty Doctor C was a pay doctor who could not perform surgery, so they waited for attending physician B, which delayed the surgery. The hospital must know best that childbirth can proceed differently than planned, yet they assigned an on-duty doctor who, despite being an obstetrics specialist, could not perform surgery because he was a pay doctor. All hospital staff are accessories who participated in the act of murdering our son."
She appealed, "They are murderers wielding knives. To prevent further victims, I hope that attending physician B and on-duty doctor C have their medical licenses revoked immediately and receive punishment commensurate with murder."
A hospital official denied the claims, saying, "This is not true." The hospital judged the petition contents to be false and is discussing measures to correct them. It is also reported that they are considering legal actions such as filing for injunctions to delete online posts.
