Busan Gijang-gun Holds Online Voting for 'Book of the Year'

From the 23rd to April 30th, Gijang-gun, Busan, is conducting an online vote for Gijang residents to select the 'Gijang-gun Book of the Year.'
The 'Gijang-gun Book of the Year' is a reading lifestyle campaign where the Gijang community reads one book together and participates. It is a project conducted as part of 'Meeting Gijang Children's Books: One City, One Book Reading.' This year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the voting will be held online.
Since February, Gijang-gun has reviewed books recommended by literary award winners and reading-related institutions through librarians. Then, the selection committee for this year's book, composed of academics, children's literature authors, and reading club presidents, deliberated. The committee selected three children's book candidates.
The candidate books are ▲ 5th Lane (Eun So-hol / Munhakdongne) ▲ Stairway to Space (Jeon Su-gyeong / Changbi) ▲ Classroom at Night (Kim Gyu-a / Saemteosa).

Voting can be done on the websites of public libraries within Gijang-gun. You can select one book you want to read among the candidate books. Once the Book of the Year is finally selected, various reading promotion programs such as meetings with the author and essay contests will be promoted centered on the selected book.
