Deputy Prime Minister Hong Emphasizes 'Gongnyeom Spirit' at Expanded Executive Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, emphasized on the 22nd, "The Ministry of Economy and Finance hopes everyone will be more thorough in maintaining vigilance over themselves from the perspectives of fairness and integrity."
At an expanded executive meeting held at the Government Complex Sejong on the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Hong stated, "In light of the recent public outrage over the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) scandal, it is a time to especially remember the spirit of 'Gongryeom' (public officials must be fair and honest) emphasized in Dasan's Mokminsimseo."
Regarding the execution of the supplementary budget (supplementary budget bill) currently under review, he said, "Since the first supplementary budget bill is expected to be finalized by the National Assembly this week, please recheck the preparations for the execution of the supplementary budget bill," and added, "As the 2022 budget formulation guidelines will be notified to each ministry by the end of this month, and the budget formulation work for next year will begin in earnest, please prepare meticulously."

Concerning the Korean New Deal, Deputy Prime Minister Hong added, "Recently, various organizations including international institutions have increasingly viewed that the recovery of the global economy, including the United States and Korea, is advancing ahead of and becoming more robust than the forecast at the end of last year," and said, "We will strengthen our policy preparations in advance so as not to miss this trend and to utilize it to the fullest extent."
